Podcasting-Thinking About It?

Podcasting-Thinking About It?

Some may have heard the word "podcast" and not know what it is, or some know what it is and don't know what you need to do or have to do to get started using it. And, most importantly, some wonder if it can be used with their business or niche website or blog? Let's begin with a simple definition.

Podcasting in it's simplest form, is an audio file through the Internet-aka Radio Show. However, it also can include video podcasting and streaming video (make sure your web hosting service supports this method.

I'm sure you've widely seen and heard them through news networks and maybe on political sites. And many may assume, that this is the only type of site that can use a podcast. Not true.

A podcast can be used for most any business or niche website or blog? Not only can it draw traffic to your site, it can make you money if you grow a following of listeners. It's uses is only limited by your imagination. I've included the information about Podcasting on my website at:

Podcasting Overview -- Describes what podcasting is and how you can use it in your business and how to make money using a podcast.

Podcasting--Let The Fun Begin

I've been looking more and more into Podcasting. Yeah, I know, I'm a little behind, because now they are beginning to Audio Cast. But what is right for your site, and your confidence, your time, and your pocketbook will probably determine whether it is audio or video.

I going to begin experimenting with podcasting, or at least the audio part on my site. I'm just pulling everything together and investigating it further. Here is an article on getting started on a Podcast of your own.

Podcasting Let the Experiments Begin
By Vickie J. Scanlon

As you know podcasting is simply an audio file that is placed on a website. If it is combined with an RSS file -- people can subscribe to your feed, and listen to your words of wisdom at their leisure. This is a good thing, it is getting your words -- your voice -- your identity to the masses.

Podcasting -- Getting Started
Publishing your podcast is simple as well -- look to Blogger, TypePad, and then use Feedburner to convert your podcast into a feed.

Simple Way to Make A Podcast
The simpliest way to get setup and to start experimenting with your own podcasting-- is to simply get a microphone and of course, free software from Audacity.

Okay, as we all know, not many are comfortable with hearing their own voice -- but hey, it's your voice -- and the voice allows your listeners to know that, yes, I am a real human, and not a machine.

Once done, you will need to upload your podcast onto your server. The only limitations I see would be how much, or little space, you have on your server-- as well as the bandwidth usage.

Submitting your Podcast to Feeds
To get your podcast out to the masses, you will need to hit the directories that cater to podcasting. Well, one of the quickest way to get this done, is through Feedburner. Just check the "Podcasting button" and you will be directed to a page with all the information you need. In fact, they have a site called "PingShot" that will automatically notify the directories and web-based aggregators when you publish new content -- I mention this one, because it is free. No sense, paying for something if you are in the experimental mode, right? But . . .

There is still a learning curve here, and you will need to take a little time to devour some of the info on the different sites to get the information you want, as well as, how to use it. But it looks like podcasting is now the in thing. Will it last? I think it may. But it looks like the next, new and great thing coming to the Internet is the Video Casts. The only thing I see that may keep some from partaking in this media is the bandwidth and storage. But we will see.

Take the Sting Out Of Podcasting

Podcasting has been coming into it's own since, I believe, 2004. It's a new concept, and a new way to reach your customers, and for your customers to get to know you, as well, as about you. They realize that the owner of the website they frequent is real, and has a voice.

If you want to do some podcasting, want to learn, and don't want to invest a lot, then read on. How about, just the cost of an ebook?

Podcasting – Is It Right For Your Website?
By Vickie J. Scanlon

I have been seeing the word podcasting floating around the Internet for a while. And actually read an article that stated it’s arrival. However, it never really gave me any information about Podcasting. And yes, my curiosity got the better of me. I decided it was time to find out more about podcasting, and learn the what and how—and if it could help my business. And, most importantly, how much I would have to spend to partake in this new technology.

What is Podcasting?

Podcasting is simply a web blog that is in an audio format. And the audio portion is presented by way of an MP3 file. In essence, it is your own radio broadcast, relating to anything you want. The transmission of the podcast is through an RSS (Real Simple Syndication) technology.

How Can I Use It In My Business?

How Can I Use It In My Business? To me, that is the most important question to answer. Why get the technology if it is not going to be of any use to you. Right? Well, I feel that it can be of use to any business. For example: let’s say that your site is based around a niche market, say cats. You could base your podcast on your niche market, supplying them information and tips about cats, with an audio, and then tell them to follow up to your website or blog, for that matter, for additional information.

What can audio do for your business? It puts a voice behind the website, and makes you a real person. And, by also supplying the same information, with follow-up material in your blog, you have made a connection. You are now a real person, with a real voice, and not a façade.

Where can I get a Podcast?

If you’re new to podcasting, know very little about it, and want to see if it can fit your needs on your site-look at my articles Podcasting Overview to give you information on podcasting and how you can make money with it. And Mechanics of a Podcast , which gives you the basics of starting a podcast.

Podcasting

Podcasting? When Jim Edwards sent me an email and presented an article on Podcasting-- it caught my attention. Podcasting is currently in its infancy stage, however on the Internet, infancy can change if many find it to be valuable in their business and in reaching customers. This is a must read, if you want to just keep informed at what is becoming available to members of the Internet, or, you think it might be a viable vehicle for your business. In either case, the article is enlightening -- Enjoy and stay informed!

Podcasting: Internet Radio On Demand... and MORE!

If you haven't heard the term "podcast" yet, you will.

It's about to blow the world of online audio through the
roof as every Tom, Dick and Shirley can now operate a high
powered Internet Radio station providing on-demand audio
(and shortly, video) with nothing more than a microphone,
simple software, and a little imagination.

Just like cable TV in the 1980's gave smaller networks and
individuals a voice on television, podcasting gives
individuals a voice (literally) through online audio.

Podcasting is actually the audio form of "blogging," where
individuals share their thoughts in writing over time on a
dynamic webpage known as a "blog."

With blogging, subscribers and other blog publishers
subscribe to and cross promote each other's content by
linking to and writing about each other.

With podcasting, the author shares his or her thoughts in
audio form (MP3) and subscribers download and listen to the
audio either on their computers, burn the files to CD, or
transfer the files to one of the increasingly popular
portable MP3 players.

In fact, the term "podcasting" draws its name from the
iPod, created by Apple Computers.

Initially you might think the only people podcasting are
geeks and computer nerds, but that's not the case.

If you imagine "talk radio" meets "free cable access" then
you have and idea of what podcasting is now and how it could
evolve in the future.

Right now, any idiot (like me) with a microphone and
something to say can create an online radio show.

This type of access to media that reaches a world-wide
market enables smaller, niche publishers to develop a
world-wide following that just isn't monetarily feasible in
traditional mass-media.

That means talk shows like "Chihuahua Breeding" or
"Motorcycle Fashion Weekly" that could never hope to afford
air time in a local market, can now develop an audience on
the Internet.

Log on to PodCastAlley.com to peruse a wide range of
available shows on everything from dog training to wine
selection and tasting tips (one of the most popular).

Despite all this potential power, podcasting remains in an
infancy stage right now.

But, the Internet has always proven in the past that a
powerful but simple technology will always find a way to
make itself felt quickly.

All it needs to explode is a few people to lead the way and
show exactly how to use the technology to entertain and
educate subscribers.

I also think two worlds will evolve for podcasting program
publishers, just like cable vs. network television.

Some content will remain free (network TV), while some
subscribers will gladly pay for more specific "niche" or
pay-per-view content (cable TV).

As the quality of the programming increases along with more
widespread acceptance of the tools necessary to consume the
content (MP3 players and portable video players),
podcasting will grow to stand beside other mainstream
media.

It won't happen overnight, and it won't penetrate every
market, but as members of the "global village" seek to find
and feel a connection with like-minded individuals,
regardless of their physical location, podcasting provides
a cheap, powerful, and innovative solution for that basic
human need.
