Microsoft is apparently having internal discussions to decide whether Windows Phone 7 will include Mac support.
Speaking on The Engadget Show today, Microsoft's Aaron Woodman didn't commit to supporting Mac OS with Windows Phone 7 Series, but he certainly didn't close the door on the idea either. There are apparently "internal discussions" going on as to whether support will move beyond Windows proper
Woodman said that the decision partly comes down to a trade-off for time to market but concluded saying that Mac support was a big "maybe".

Steve Jobs still hasn't updated his iPhone to OS 3.1.3 according to header information from an email he sent to Macsoda.
Recently it was reported that Apple fired 40 employees from the Final Cut team. Macsoda sent an email to Jobs regarding the state of Final Cut Pro.
Jobs replied saying the following,
"No worries. FCP is alive and well.
Sent from my iPhone"
9to5Mac had a look at the headers to confirm this email was authentic. Interestingly the email is from iPhone Mail (7D11) which means Jobs is still using OS 3.1.2. He hasn't updated to OS 3.1.3 (7E18) and isn't using a 4.0 beta as you might expect.
So now you have another reason not to update to OS 3.1.3!

62 workers, 15 more than initially reported, have fallen ill after toxic chemical exposure at Wintek’s Suzhou, China-based factory, according to a Global Post report.
Among the factory employees sickened, 41 are still hospitalized, said Huang Zhongjie, a spokesman for Wintek in Taiwan.
Workers at the factory suffered nerve and muscle damage after working with the toxic chemical hexane to clean component touch screens for electronic products. The company and local government both say Wintek’s factory has since stopped using the chemical in its manufacturing process. Several media outlets, including the official China Daily newspaper in Beijing, have reported the factory makes screens for Apple’s new iPad tablet computer, but a factory manager said Thursday he could not confirm that. Workers were uncertain about the ultimate destination of the LCD screens they made.
Apple did not reply to GlobalPost’s requests for comment; however, they did just release an extensive report on supplier responsibility in which they address how the company is committed to ensuring the highest standards of social responsibility from their suppliers.
Apple found that 75 percent of the 100 plus suppliers it audited were in compliance with health and safety codes. They did not name the specific companies that failed to meet standards.

Patently Apple notes that "while Apple's trademark filing only covers International Classification 009, it should be noted that Apple covers some very interesting elements under this classification, such as: Touchscreens, Light Pens and Graphics Tablets."
We don't know what exactly "Magic TrackPad" device is; however, John Gruber from Daring Fireball did mention hearing about a "Multi-Touch Trackpad Gadget for Desktop Macs" way back in October.

Apple has made an official statement regarding the 27-inch iMac problems admitting to the production issues that have been widely reported.
Gizmodo received the following statement from Apple.
"We've addressed the issues that caused display flickering and yellow tint. Customers concerned that their iMac is affected should contact AppleCare."
Users are still reporting the receipt of affected Macs; however, these reports are slowly dwindling.
Gizmodo considers it safe to buy an iMac as long as you run this test upon receipt. If any part of that screen doesn't look right you may need to contact AppleCare to get a new system. Since Apple has acknowledged the issue you shouldn't have a problem getting proper support.

Dell’s first effort at a tablet is the still in beta Mini 5 which according to Michael Dell will ship "in a couple of months."
The Mini 5 capacitive touchscreen device will feature a 5-megapixel camera on the back, a separate front-facing camera that can be used for video conferencing, a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1-GHz processor. It will run the latest version of Google’s Android operating system at a 16:9 display ratio.
“It’s a device optimized for media consumption,” Neeraj Choubey, general manager of the tablets division at Dell told Wired.com. “It will offer the full web-browsing experience so you have something that you are holding in your hand that replaces everything the smartphone does and takes on quite a bit of the features of a laptop.”
The Dell 5 Mini will also just be the first in a series. “We are going to have a family of tablets,” says Choubey. “The first one is a 5-inch screen but we want to scale that up to a variety of screen sizes.”
That means future Dell tablets will compete more directly with the iPad.

This morning we announced preliminary results for our 2010 third quarter. Since the quarter has not yet closed, it is too soon to offer exact numbers, but we stated that we expect to report revenues for Q3 between $300 and $320 million. We also announced that we expect our revenue for this fiscal year to fall below the guidance we gave to Wall Street, which ranged from $1.6 to $1.8 billion. As we mentioned in our press release, our softer than expected performance is due to slower than expected customer adoption of our products, which in turn has prompted our U.S. carrier partners to put additional orders on hold for the time being. On a positive note, we expect to exit the quarter with over $500 million in cash on our balance sheet. We’re scheduled to announce our full financial results in March.
I realize this news is difficult to swallow. We made this announcement today to prevent a surprise for Wall Street when we announce quarterly earnings in March. In the meantime, the entire executive team has been working extremely hard to improve product performance, and have implemented a number of initiatives to increase awareness and drive sales.
Dave Whalen and I just returned from a very successful meeting with Verizon Wireless, where they acknowledged that their execution of our launch was below expectations and recommitted to working with us to improve sales. To accelerate sales, we initiated Project JumpStart nearly three weeks ago. Since then, nearly two hundred Palm Brand Ambassadors, supplemented by Palm employees from Sunnyvale, have been training Verizon sales reps across the U.S. on our products. Early results from the stores have already shown improvement on product knowledge and sales week over week. You may have also seen a growing number of Palm ads on billboards, bus shelters, buses, and subway stations—all getting the word out about Palm.
All of these efforts are examples of how we are working to accelerate adoption and grow distribution of webOS. In the next few weeks, your management will work with you to make sure your priorities are laser-focused, primarily on helping to increase sales, improve product quality and differentiate the Palm product experience.

Apple's new iPhone is expected to have a lower total cost of ownership and add new gesture based functionality.
Morgan Stanley research has found that the highest barrier to greater iPhone adoption is the cost of hardware, followed by the service plan.
Analyst Katy Huberty expects Apple to introduce a new model in June that will be economically friendly to even more consumers.
"We expect Apple to launch new iPhones in June that offer both a lower total cost of ownership and new functionality, potentially including gesture-based technology," she wrote.
Huberty is bullish on Apple's stock and optimistic about the iPad.
"We expect Apple to ship its first iPad and announce additional content deals in late March to better than expected demand," Huberty wrote. "We see the iPad targeting the sub-$800 consumer notebook market which equates to 30M annual units just in the US (120M globally)."

The 10 billionth song, “Guess Things Happen That Way” by Johnny Cash, was purchased by Louie Sulcer of Woodstock, Georgia. As the winner of the iTunes Countdown to 10 Billion Songs, Louie will receive a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card.

On Feb 25, 2010, the US Patent & Trademark Office published a patent application from Apple that reveals a design to help users control their incoming calls and voicemail by simply swiping their finger over the external camera lens.

In one embodiment of the invention, one can control functions of a portable handheld electronic device by swiping a finger across a camera lens of the device. In other embodiments, the user can control voicemail functions by tapping the device, which causes the device to vibrate or move. In one embodiment, to access his voice mailbox, a user may tap the phone to cause playback of a message to pause, tap the phone again to resume playback, swipe his finger over the camera lens in one direction to fast forward playback, and swipe his finger over the camera lens in another direction to rewind playback. These actions allow the user to control functions of voicemail review without removing the device from over his ear.
In another embodiment, functions for controlling call features utilize similar user actions or motions. Features such as merging multiple calls, putting a call on hold, and switching between or among multiple simultaneous calls may be controlled by single or double (or any number of) taps of the device, as detected by an accelerometer of the device. These taps may be preprogrammed by a manufacturer, or selected and programmed by a user.
Furthermore, a user may navigate a document being shown on a display screen of the device by guiding his finger over the camera lens. While viewing the display screen, the user holds the device in the palm of his hand in a supine position. Rather than pressing or sliding directional buttons next to the screen or touching a touch screen to navigate a webpage document or contacts list, the user may move his finger over the camera lens in the direction he wishes to navigate the page. For example, gliding the finger over the camera lens in an upwards direction navigates the page in an analogous upwards direction. Doing so allows the user to easily steer the display of the device in any direction, with the same hand that holds the device.
