@ Thief, I forgot to mention in the player analyzer tab deron williams does not return a buy/sell/or hold indication number only his rank and rank score when keyed into the name slot.

This would be helpful for me, and I would imagine the implementation wouldn't be too hard...would it be possible instead of inserting your team directly into the analyzer, that you could enter it directly into a different set of cells, and each player would have a label, either 1-13 or A-M or whatever, then you could enter in 'prospectives', people you are wanting to trade/pickup, then when you are shuffling your roster around, you can easily change people in and out of active roster spots, instead of having to type out complete names over and over.

ReplyDeleteI was thinking of suggesting something similar. I know a bit about excel, and in fact before thief brought out this sweet sheet would dump my league's stats out to play with the numbers occassionally. What you are asking for would be somewhat easy if it were one category, perhaps something as similar as the goal-seek function. I'm not saying that the Thief couldn't pull it off, but I'm going to bet it would be a hefty bit of code (some sort of crazy Macro loop, or other code) that would have to churn it all out.
I have written a few simple macros in my day (been a while), but I'm guessing that is quite the project, and perhaps a bit out of scope for a 'free' solution. Besides, Thief has quantified some subjective factors into these numbers (injuries, etc), and so like he said in a post before, giving specific ranks would not be helpful, nor would finding the exact player. With the statistical variation, I don't know how helpful/effective it would be in the end. Perhaps if it returned a range of players to look at, then you could make the decision yourself...but that would require even more coding.
Just some thoughts/explanation.

Thief, I have offered that trade to get rid of Jennings and get Devin Harris on the cheap... But they are now saying Harris is suffering from tendinitis. What does you prior experience say about that type of injury? Should I be worried, if the deal gets accepted, that Harris might be limited by it for a long time, or is it easily curable?

But as I've told you earlier, I'm worried that giving up Curry might get me in trouble with the steals category... So the guy I would grab off the wire would have to be reasonable in that respect. Do you think Foye will be able to get me at least 1 steal per game with the increased playing time?
Or should I maybe pick up Rasheed Wallace, based on his performance tonight, hoping that KG's injury troubles will continue, so that Sheed could produce much more going forward (and hopefully with a better FG%, like tonight)... ?
Or, even if the trade doesn't go through (that manager is one of those that have never responded to my trade offers so far), maybe drop Curry and grab Sheed right now?

@ Thief: People are asking for way too much dude. I like the Team Analyzer just the way it is already. I like the new revision that Christo suggested with the ranks and rank scores in the team analyzer tab. After that I would leave it at that lol.

How about a trade analyzer tab that lets you compare only the players you get versus the players you give. It would ideally spit out a plus/minus for each of the categories.

Christo, Foye has averaged 1 SPG as a starter, so I think you're good there. As for Harris, I don't have all the details on him but I'll do some digging. My initial response is that it's not something to get worried about...

On the other hand, CDR is solid as a starter putting up 17 points a game with 4.5 rebounds and a few assists. My team is good on steals so I wouldn't miss his steals, and I need assists, but again CDR is consistent and I don't know if Foye would be. What do you think?

OMG! I'm watching the Bucks-Lakers game right now and Michael Redd left the game with an injury in his left knee apparently... and, yes, you guessed it, that's the same knee that he tore both the ACL and MCL of about a year ago! He simply landed after a shot without any contact at all and grabbed his knee straight away...

ReplyDeleteDon't go dropping Redd quite yet, cause there is no official news of his injury yet. But it wouldn't hurt to try and sell him quickly tonight, if there are active managers in your league, who haven't yet learned about what happened in the Lakers game...
ReplyDeleteAs for Miller, I already dropped him myself, cause in his case (and my situation) I didn't even want to wait for any more particular news - I urgently needed to free up a roster spot for Sheed, who seems to be on fire right now. But in your case I don't know if you risk missing out on Chandler or Dalembert - if you do, then you might want to drop Miller too.
As for Ilyasova, I must admit I used to like him very much... But Mr Thief warned us about him and, well, he was right, as usual ;) I'm glad I listened to him and didn't drop any of my players to pick up Ilyasova - thanks for that, Thief ^_^

ReplyDeleteWhat are your thoughts on michael redd and mike miller? ive been getting rocked by injuries the entire season and somehow im still third in my 10-man league. However i think it's time i started making a run for the top spot what do you think i should do with these two players? Some notable FA include jefferson, anthony randolph, shaq, ilyasova, lowry, dampier, and robinson. once again im fairly average in everything and any stat would be welcomed.

ReplyDeleteQ, nice deal. I love Biedrins going forward, he's fresh an only has Turiaf to battle for time. Also we sold well on Hibbert, he's a future stud but won't score as much with Granger, Murphy an Dunleavy out there.
Dan, let's send him Ariza, Chandler, Jennings n Martin for Biedrins, Harris and Green. See if he bites, I agree he seems ready to deal.
