Article marketing is the writing of short articles that is related to your business field of industry. It's a great way to get one-way links and to help to increase traffic to your site.


Links within an Article

If you are not planning on sending your article viral than links within your webpage copy is great. However, if you're planning on sending your article viral, it is best to utilize the Resource Box at the end of the article. Why? Because your article will, in most cases, be rejected by the Article Directory.

The Article Directory is looking for information only within the body of the article, and not looking for self-promotion-Sales copy, in other words. Can't blame them. However you can utilize the one area - the Resource Box.


Your Resource Box

The Resource box, is your advertisement. In most cases they will allow up to three links within the resource box. With that in mind...

When writing an article, also keep in mind your advertising links you want to use, or will be using. If you are talking about a specific product or service that is a web page on your website, be sure and place a link to that web page. In other words, make total use of the Resource Box and do not direct it just to your home page.

As you have probably figure out, the resource box is for lead generation and link building. So, it is wise to experiment with your resource box, creating several different info resource boxes. You'll soon determine which description pulls your target market to your site.

So, what at a minimum should a good resource box include?

• your name,

• business (if appropriate)

• website, webpage links to direct people who are interested in your product/s or services

• description of your service or product

Though simple, sometimes the simple things are missed. So don’t miss the simple things that can and will pull your target market to your site.

Another Tip-For Adsense

Sometimes, it's nice to know if Google is having problems with Adsense and if it is affecting your bottom-line. Well, it looks like they are know giving you a place to go, to see if, your sudden drop in income is related to any issues. With that being said...

If you think your Adsense Income is unusually low or you think there something that isn’t quite up to snuff , you now have a page that you can go to, to look at any Known Issues for Adsense. They state that their system has an occasional “hiccup”. To keep you in the loop that have created a new “Known Issues Page” where you can check for updates on this reporting issue and other existing issues. You’ll see both resolved issues and new known issues. For your convenience, I will be placing a link within my Adsense Tidbits Page on my website, if you should lose the link.

My advice, take a few minutes and look it over. It may give you an idea of what they are working on-and may even solve a problem of yours that they are working on.

First Look at Django

Django is MVC... kinda

Django (and all of the frameworks I'm looking at) is based on the "MVC" software architecture pattern. Since these are largely personal notes (can't imagine anyone else reading this) I'm not going to cover the basics here. You can find that in the Django Book or on Wikipedia.

But here's an interesting quote from Chapter 5 of the Django Book:

Because the “C” is handled by the framework itself and most of the excitement in Django happens in models, templates, and views, Django has been referred to as an MTV framework. In the MTV development pattern,

• M stands for “Model,” the data access layer. This layer contains anything and everything about the data: how to access it, how to validate it, which behaviors it has, and the relationships between the data.
• T stands for “Template,” the presentation layer. This layer contains presentation-related decisions: how something should be displayed on a Web page or other type of document.
• V stands for “View,” the business logic layer. This layer contains the logic that access the model and defers to the appropriate template(s). You can think of it as the bridge between models and templates.
  

If you’re familiar with other MVC Web-development frameworks, such as Ruby on Rails, you may consider Django views to be the “controllers” and Django templates to be the “views.” [...] Neither interpretation is more “correct” than the other. The important thing is to understand the underlying concepts.

This sounds like a subtle but possibly important distinction, particularly as I move between frameworks. I have some initial concerns about Django's interpretation of MVC but I'll keep that to myself until I've really given it time to make sense (basically, how does the split of business logic between Django "model" and "view" manifest itself in the design of your code, and can it lead to anemic domain models?).

Why Django?

Behind the 8-ball here. Not only is Django new to me but Python isn't a language I code in regularly -- in fact it's been some time since I've played with it. I like the look of Python. I've coded some trivial programs with it. The "white space thing" doesn't bother me and I don't really understand why it would bother anyone. Then again it's not the first language I've seen that does it. The first language that I saw that particular feature in was Occam, and I really liked Occam (not that I ever did anything useful with it).

So why Django?

• It's based on Python and Python seems like it should be a really good language to work in. I'm a Perl refugee in some ways. I'm finding it hard to recruit really good Perl coders (as opposed to just plain old Perl coders) and I suspect that people who have taken the trouble to learn Python (or Ruby, or Scala, or LISP) are more likely to care about good code. Not because C# and Java programmers don't but ... well, in this market why would you learn Python if it wasn't because you cared about being a better programmer?

• There are other Python frameworks that look very interesting: TurboGears and Pylons for example. But I have limited time and Django appears to have an edge for reasons I can't yet articulate. I'll probably drill down into TurboGears later.

• Django is the first framework supported by Google App Engine.

• The Django core team say sensible things about web development and the community appears active and supportive. A little smug sometimes but hey, wouldn't you be, if you were working in the One True Language too? :-)

Notes on "Mental Detox"

So apparently of three that set out I was the only one to make it to Friday, which is not even a full week. For shame Kate, for shame. :-)

In the 5 days during my self imposed personal net exile:

• I clocked up a modest amount of spam (219 messages), mailing list messages (184 conversations) and personal e-mail.
• There were 634 RSS items in Google Reader.
• There were 19 podcasts downloaded by iTunes.

And I learned:

• That I don't miss, like or need Facebook. But it seems rude to delete my account...
• That I follow far too many total freakin' strangers on Twitter. I need some Twitter Equilibrium :-)
• I have too many RSS feeds that don't really tell me anything I need to know.

Well. Just some random notes from no-one of consequence. Seriously, why are you reading this?

Como uma onda no mar...

Acho incrível a capacidade das pessoas pra fazerem algumas coisas. Não estou criticando ninguém. O que eu quero, com esse texto, está simplesmente além disso. Muito além!
Eu queria escrever poesias. Acho que não sei. tentei algumas e não fiquei satisfeita, mas levando em consideração o meu grau de perfeccionismo, acredito que elas nem estivesse tããão ruim assim. Só sei que, eu descobri na prosa e nos parágrafos, sem estrofes e versos, a minha verdadeira paixão e forma de escrever. Me sinto tão modernista e, contudo, tão apaixonada pelo romantismo. Outra vez. Isso são apenas palavras. E agora, é metalinguístico. Eu não me importo. De verdade? Eu não me importo.
Já procurei tantas vezes a inspiração ou a idéia perfeita. Não só pra escrever quanto pra desenhar, mas não funciona assim. Não encontrei nada que me levasse a escrever só pelo olhar. Encontrei dentro de mim todas as perguntas que deveriam ser feitas e algumas respostas. Elas nunca foram suficientes. E o que é suficiente? O que é [u]suficiente[/u] para você? Quando as respostas para as perguntas serão suficientes?
Paro por aqui. Não é suficiente, mas já me satisfaz por ora.

So you have a business, and you’re working hard. Sometimes, when you are really focuses on your business, you neglect certain things, like-your health. So what do you need to think about.

Your Weight

I have found, to my dismay that my weight began to creep up once I started a home business. That was because I was spending a lot of time in front of the computer, trying to crank out a business-I wasn’t moving. And, I began to pursue some rather bad habits:

1. The refrigerator would call me-whenever I happen to be near. I guess, it was and is too accessible. (Boy is that an understatement.)
2. Not enough exercise

Those two things cause my weight to creep up. What can you do? Well, you can say, “Gee, my clothes must of shrink.” Or you can stand in front of the mirror and say, “I don’t look to bad.” Self-justification is a killer isn’t it? And trust me it doesn’t help.

So what do you need to do? Simple: Get up and start moving and be more conscious of when and how much you are eating.

Exercise and controlled eating will help you keep these risk health factors under control: cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes. With that being said, I guess it’s about time I go for my walk before I tackle my next four hours in front of my computer.

To conclude, since summer is almost upon us, it’s time to take a little time out for you on a daily basis. Absorb the sunshine and some light conversation and keep your health in check- it’s important for both you and your family.

Ngôi nhà mà các bạn nhìn thấy phía trên đây được xây dựng vào năm 1970 – nơi một gia đình gồm 2 vợ chồng và 2 đứa con (1 trai, 1 gái) sinh sống rất hạnh phúc. Nhưng rồi, không rõ chuyện gì đã xảy ra mà toàn bộ thành viên trong gia đình này đã tự tử.

Những người hàng xóm chỉ phát hiện ra cái chết của gia đình này khi những dòng máu hôi tanh tràn qua khe cửa chảy ra ngoài, sự thối rữa của thịt bốc mùi và một không khí thuốc độc bao trùm cả khu phố… nhưng do nỗi sợ hãi mà không một ai dám bước chân vào. Thế nhưng, chỉ 3 ngày sau, cả gia đình 2 nhà hàng xóm bên cạnh căn nhà đó cũng lần lượt xảy ra kết cục tương tự… Lo sợ điều đó cũng xảy đến với mình, không ai bảo ai, tất cả gia đình sống trong khu phố đó đều chuyển đi ngay trong ngày hôm sau…

Từ đó trở đi, không một ai dám bước chân vào ngôi nhà đó và bí mật này cho đến nay, vẫn chưa được hé mở.

Theo lời nguyền định sẵn, những ai biết câu chuyện trên mà không bước vào NGÔI NHÀ MA sẽ bị ám ảnh và sẽ lạc vào ngôi nhà này ít nhất và duy nhất một lần trong đời!

Vậy phải làm thế nào?

Một nhà nghiên cứu sau khi lạc bước vào ngôi nhà trên và là trường hợp duy nhất còn sống sót trở về đã làm một game mô phỏng bằng flash giúp chúng ta vén một phần sự thật. Đừng chần chừ, hãy cùng bước vào đây để giải thoát lời nguyền của ma quỷ.

Bạn cũng nên mặc ít áo (càng lạnh càng tốt), thậm chí có thể bật quạt to hoặc điều chỉnh nhiệt độ điều hòa xuống mức thấp nhất.

3. Hãy tắt đèn và đặc biệt là vặn volume cực đại nhưng vì đêm hôm nên bạn có thể đeo Head Phone nhưng nhớ là phải đeo loại Head Phone xịn (kêu to, không bị ảnh hưởng bởi tiếng ồn bên ngoài) và vẫn nhớ là vặn volume cực đại. Bạn nào hay nghe nhạc thì cũng làm ơn tắt đi dùm...

Mental Detox Week (redux)

Mental Detox week was 21 - 27 April but I missed it completely (despite being an Adbusters subscriber). So Kate Carruthers and some of her friends (including me) are doing a Mental Detox week from May 12 to 17. Which isn't actually a full week but baby steps people, baby steps.

Given that I'll still be working I'll still need to use a computer. But

• No IM
• No personal e-mail
• No Facebook (that one will be easy)
• No iPod (that one will be hard)
• No TV, radio or Google Reader.
  
• And no Twitter.

Don't watch TV anyway and the radio sucks but not sure what the policy is on the print version of newspapers. Not reading my RSS feeds in Google Reader leaves me with the feeling that I might "miss something." What if they announce the next Google App Engine next week? On the other hand, real news can put that kind of event into perspective.

In hindsight it was pointless to commit to this during a working week. There's still an awful lot of noise to deal with at work. Next time I'll try this kind of electronic-blackout during annual leave but I'm committed now so...

@ Cafê chiều thứ bảy: Hai năm trước khi còn tham gia câu lạc bộ Phát thanh Sinh viên, Cafê phụ trách chuyên mục: “Chuyện thường ngày”. Có thể nói, những ngày phụ trách chuyên mục là những ngày làm báo đầu tiên của Cafê. Cũng viết bài, viết kịch bản, thu âm, phát, lắng nghe phản hồi khen chê, thư hâm mộ… Thật sự là những tháng ngày hạnh phúc.

Hôm nay, sắp xếp đống giấy tờ vô tình gặp lại bản thảo một trong những chương trình ngày xưa. Chợt nhớ…Xin giới thiệu lại với các bạn. Hãy thư giãn nhé. Những ngày bận rộn của tháng 6 mùa thi căng thẳng quá!...

Xin tự giới thiệu với các bạn, tôi là Hứa Bán Thiên, sinh viên năm thứ 7 của Trường đại học Siêng- ăn- ngủ-nhác- học- bài. Là một sinh viên kỳ cựu với thâm niên hơn 7 năm thi lại, học lại, tôi đã dồn hết tâm lực-thể lực-trí lực của mình để viết nên một bộ sách kinh thiên động địa có nhan đề là: Bí kíp mùa thi.

Học là cả một quá trình, nhưng thi thì chỉ nằm gọn trong mấy ngày. Vì vậy, quyển sách này được viết với phương châm “mưa rào thấm nhanh” rất phù hợp với những sinh viên thuộc trường phái “nước đến chân mới nhảy”. Đặc biệt, sách còn được trình bày rất khoa học bằng công thức: Dồn + nén + gấp…rất thuận tiện cho đối tượng ngâm sách vở hàng tháng trời mà không hề đụng tới.

Sách còn hết sức chú trọng đến số luợng thay vì chất lượng, số trang là 500 luôn bìa, chia thành năm chương. Mỗi chương là một bí kíp mà bất cứ ai, không có một chữ nào trong đầu khi chỉ còn 7 ngày nữa là thi, cũng cần phải biết.

Chương I là phần trình bày cách học mọi thời gian. Tức là: học sáng, học trưa, học chiều, học đêm, học khuya, sáng hôm sau lại học tiếp. Đây là phương pháp được soạn ra theo danh ngôn nổi tiếng: “Học, học, nữa học mãi”.

Chương hai trình bày về cách học trong mọi không gian: học từ trong nhà, học ra ngoài ngõ, học từ trên phố, học tới nông thôn…

Chương I và II là viết cho những ai còn cảm thấy có một chút hối hận, muốn học bù lại thời gian thường ngày lãng phí. Dẫu sao còn nước còn tát.

Nhưng nếu lỡ hết nước luôn thì sao? Hãy đọc sang chương III. Đây là phần cung cấp các kỹ năng cần thiết trong phòng thi.

Phần A là phần cung cấp các kỹ năng tự tạo lấy “phao” cứu sinh cho mình. Đây là phần tập hợp các mẫu thiết kế “phao” của các sĩ tử Đông Tây Kim Cổ, từ đơn giản như viết tài liệu lên tay lên chân, đến phức tạp như phao “co giãn” duỗi tay thì tài liệu xuất hiện, co tay thì tài liệu biến mất.

Biên soạn phần này, tôi đã có tham khảo ý kiến của nhà ảo thuật gia David Copperfied, và được nhà ảo thuật này đánh giá rất cao. Tôi cam đoan rằng, bất cứ nhà ảo thuật chuyên nghiệp nào, đọc sách này cũng sẽ học hỏi được từ sách từ 200 đến 300 trò ảo thuật mới.

Nếu bạn thuộc tuýp người không muốn động tay động chân chế tạo phao, thì phần B sẽ là phần cung cấp cho bạn hàng loạt các địa chỉ photo có phân phối sĩ và lẻ tài liệu quay cóp. Đặc biệt, nếu bạn cắt phiếu giảm giá ở cuối phần này, đến bất kỳ tiệm photo nào bạn cũng sẽ được giảm giá 20%.

Chương IV là một chương hết sức độc đáo. Chương này được soạn ra cho các trường hợp đang quay cóp thì bị giám thị phát hiện. Đây là một chương trình bày các kỹ xảo diễn xuất trong các tình huống “ngàn cân treo sợi tóc” như vậy. Bạn phải khóc lóc, ỉ ôi và phải ca "bài ca con cá":

-Con cá sống vì nước

Em sống vì phao

Mà thầy nỡ nào

Lấy đi cái phao.

Chúng tôi cũng có bán kèm đĩa CD bài hát này cho những bạn nào có nhu cầu.

Chương V, cũng là chương cuối. Đây là chương chứa đầy các lời khuyên, tâm tình, an ủi của Bách gia chư tử, danh nhân về chuyện hỏng thi. Đây là chương dành cho những ai trót đã thực hiện đầy đủ, cặn kẽ, kỹ càng bốn chương trên mà vẫn không thoát cái số hỏng thi. Chương này được hầu hết sinh viên thi trượt đánh giá là sâu sắc, chí tình, chí lý.

“Trồng dưa được đưa, trồng đậu được đậu”, nếu chẳng may thi hỏng thì cũng nên trân trọng lấy kêt quả đó, dù là kết quả xấu. Chỉ có nổ lực mới có thể thành công, “con đường thành công không có dấu chân của kẻ lười biếng”.

About the Application

The application is going to be small "to do" app loosely based on David Allen's Getting Things Done. Not that the world needs another "to do" app (or even another GTD app) but it fits the basic criteria: it's small but not trivial, capable of being built in a few days and the problem is well understood enough that I can concentrate on learning the basics of the framework rather than solving some other problem.

Here's a short summary of the requirements:

• Users need to be able to register with a user name and password to save and access their lists. The "stretch target" would be to allow users to start making lists anonymously, and then to save that work upon registering. If they already have an account, then the anonymous list and previously saved list should be merged sensibly.
• Users will make lists of tasks. So we have the concept of a "list" (users must have at least one). A list should have a name and, when users are looking at the "list of lists" should be able to be sorted arbitrarily (in other words, users should be able to force a particular list to the "top" or above another list).
• Lists contain tasks. A task needs a name, some notes, and the same sorting behaviour as lists (ie give users full control over the order of the list).
• Each task can have exactly one context. A context is a GTD concept -- it's basically the things you need to get a task done. Example context might be "at work", "at home", "online" -- so that a task that has the context "at work" is something to do at work. Each user can have their own set of unique contexts but it's expected that the application will provide some sensible defaults.
• Stretch target: Allow tasks to have an arbitrary number of contexts which represent the intersection of those requirements. A task that has the context "home" and "online" is one that requires an Internet connection from home to do. Not very "GTD-y" to make things overly complex though...
• There is the concept of a context being "current." In other words, you tell the application "I am at work" and it will only show you the "at work" tasks.
• Stretch target: When a user logs on, the default context should be the last context they were using from that particular device. For example, if they've logged on from their iPhone and have set their current context to "errands" then the next time they log on from their iPhone that should be the default context. However, if they log on from work immediately after, the default context will be "at work." It is anticipated that the browser string will be unique enough for this.
• Stretch target: Mobile and Twitter support.

So, there you have it. Will not set the world on fire but I'm confident that we can get to know some of the frameworks well enough to get a "feel" for how they see the problem and how much code it takes to get it going.

I shall call it "lulztodo", because we're doing it for the lulz (thanks Nick).

• Small: Nothing too fancy -- the point is to learn a little about web development with a given framework, not solve an actual real problem. That will come later.
• Well understood: In order to concentrate on learning the framework, I'm not going to try and solve the Travelling Salesman problem in O(1) time.
• Non-trivial: Despite the above, it will need to be a bit more fancy than "Hello World." It should require persistent data storage, authentication and do something vaguely useful.

So, if I develop the same application over and over again in different frameworks each time I hope to get roughly comparable results.

Searching for the One True Framework

No, I don't really believe there is One True Framework. But I am thinking about future web architecture directions for our group.

I'm going to write a series of posts comparing and contrasting a few different languages and framework combinations. These frameworks seem to be emerging as leaders in their language / platform niche:

• Django (Python)
• Catalyst (Perl)
• CakePHP (PHP)
• Rails (Ruby)
• Wicket (Java)
• Grails (Groovy)

That list in no particular order by the way. I don't think I could sensibly look at all of them or do them justice. And it might be smarter to pick a language first and then evaluate the frameworks available for it. But at this stage I'm going for "breadth" first and then I'll drill down into more detail.

Wanting to Attract Local Business With Your Website?

Hitting local markets with SEO is something I've been doing a little research on. Why? One of my friends wants to attract local business, not global business. And who, most benefits from local SEO marketing? Your brick and mortar companies that is within your local area.

If you are a local business-and your product is not "global" in nature you really don't want to heighten your SEO campaign to the big three. Why? Your company will be getting traffic that is not their target market, or demographics.

So what are some of the things you should consider:

1. Target keywords- Include names that are local terms. Such as cities, counties, zip codes. For instance: "Johnson County horse auction".
2. Submit to local directories and web based yellow pages.
3. If you have a company name and address, be sure it is included in your About Page, because that will be picked up by the search engines.
4. Exchange links and banners with local businesses, so you can get local traffic.
5. Advertise with Google Maps-It’s Adwords based, but it geared specific to the local area of your business-and your ad will be seen on Google Maps, Google and across Google advertising network. With SEO whether you are hitting a global market or a local market, it still takes time to see traffic coming your way. In most cases, about 3 months.

Eu descobri que tenho a vida inteira pra me arrepender DE UMA COISA APENAS! Sabe o que é ter certeza de que vc nunca mais vai se arrepender de nada, exceto de uma? Believe me, é fantástico! ;D
