Target Market Attention Getters

Target Market Attention Getters?
By Vickie J. Scanlon

Do you know who your audience is for your website? It’s important. You got the search engines indexing your site and you’re getting visits-but no one is buying. Why?

First, your keywords may not be matching the true nature of your content on your website. As with a blog, your website should center around a theme that will draw your target market to your site. You say to yourself, “Okay, once I do that, how do I get their attention?”

You really do not have much time to get the attention of your audience. In most cases, they may spend a couple of seconds on your site, scan first, and if they find something they like, they will read your content. If the subtitles do not catch their attention they will click away. So, what to do?

Since people scan content first before determining interest, it is wise to set your pages up for the individual that scans first, reads later. A scanner will look at the subtitles, so make sure the subtitles are descriptive. Use bold or highlight in yellow to emphasize importance. Don’t overdue it!

To conclude, getting the attention of your readers, and giving them a positive experience on your site is important if you want to see success. It won’t happen overnight, but it is doable.
