Thanksgiving or Thankstaking?....
I am a notorious skeptic of traditional holidays in general. I am the family member who constantly makes smart remarks about the origins of the holidays we have all gathered to celebrate. As I get older, my tolerance to fight the normal holiday cheer is wearing down. I find myself reducing the holidays down to an excuse to see family, and catch up with your friends. Today, i felt it necessary to send a text out to my personal list of friends that said the following...
Of course, I got all types of responses....funny, intellectual, a couple of people asked if I was okay. It made me think. On this day from now on maybe I should fast to honor the sacrifices and lives lost, in order to make this day in American history. Not as some sort of juvenile protest but a genuine expression of gratitude. Except for my attempts at completing Ramadan, I eat everyday!!! One day, in honor of the Native brothers who were essentially slaughtered, is not a lot to ask. Lets be real, there is no designated day to remember the crimes committed against the indigenous people of America. Instead, America has designed holidays that basically rub those crimes, in the face of all Native people specifically, and all of humanity in general.
So yeah I ate today but I remembered the elders that sacrificed today as well. In particular the Pequot Tribe, who even in the face of inhumane treatment, tried to appeal to the colonists. Peep this document from 1735 where the Tribe appeals to the European colonists an attempt to reach an understanding. 100 years after The Pequot War which, wiped them out. To think the colonists considered the natives savages.....ridiculous.
So before you go saying I'm the scrooge or I'm always tripping about something..at lest take the time to see where some of theses rituals come from.....Gotta go now, I'm full as hell and I think there is some more of that pumpkin cheesecake shit left..YEAHHHHHH!!!!

I have a new open source project at VolunteerCake that is using their recently released web hosting service. This service includes the typical LAMP stack with MySQL, Apache and PHP, so I thought it would be a great place to keep a demo of the site running.
It was working fine, and then one day I noticed that the pages were being over aggressively cached. For instance, if I clicked the login button on the front page, and logged in successfully, I expected to see a "logout" button and my user name, but instead was seeing the original page. By hitting "shift-refresh", I was able to get the right page to display, but obviously that wasn't a good way to demonstrate the software.

I spent some time yesterday figuring out CSS problems for Job Connections.
The Job Connections site was built using a CSS for printing that wasn't including all of the parts of the page that should be printed. They use a stylesheet called print.css, and when somebody would try to print a page, they weren't getting anything but the text in the middle of the page.

Vừa về sau khi xong buổi lễ tổng kết và trao giải Olympic Tin học Sinh viên 2008 - ko như ý lắm vì cũng chẳng có giải gì đặc biệt cho cá nhân.
Đi thi năm nay hy vọng có giải để mà sau này xin việc ngành IT cho nó dễ, nhất là đối với 1 sinh viên khoa Toán như mình. Nghĩ thế nên cũng cố gắng chuẩn bị cho tốt, học được thêm được nhiều thuật toán mới. Từ những lần tham gia giải đề trên UVA Judge, những lần giải bài mãi mà chỉ nhận WRONG ANS, hỏi han bè bạn trên diễn đàn, rùi đến lúc được ACCEPTED, mừng hú vía. :D
Đến giờ thi cá nhân, nhận xét lúc đầu là đề năm nay cũng dễ, đọc vào là biết thuật giải, chỉ cần cài đặt cho tốt. Tuy nhiên mình lại phạm phải 1 sai lầm, chẳng bít diễn đạt như thế nào, vì qua rùi, nhưng mà chẳng hiểu áp dụng chiến thuật đọc đề nhanh làm sao?? mà mình lại đọc ko kỹ đề. Dẫn đến sai hẳn 1 bài quan trọng. Lúc đó có 1 đáp án mẫu của đề, tự tin thế nào mà mình lại đinh ninh cho rằng... đề sai!

Cố gắng trong khối Phần mềm nguồn mở cũng không mang lại kết quả, bởi mình không đặt nặng khối thi này, tất cả thời gian dành cho học thuật toán. Nên dẫu đội mình (Khánh, Hiếu, mình) làm bài tập trung và tốt hơn năm ngoái, nhưng vẫn không thể vượt qua các đội gà chọi chính hiệu khác.

Cú chót là thi đồng đội ACM/ICPC khu vực châu Á, dồn hết sức thi, 5 tiếng, cuối cùng đội mình đạt giải 3, cũng hay, coi như có cái cần về. :D

Thi xong ngồi lại, rút kinh nghiệm đau thương :) Từ nay phải lập 1 danh sách những sai lầm có thể mắc phải khi thi. Để trong những cuộc thi quan trọng ko mắc phải những sai lầm ngớ ngẫn vừa qua.
Vả lại tiếp xúc với các bạn cùng lứa khác, thấy mình còn yếu thế quá. Phải cố gắng học thuật toán và code nhiều vào, để xây dựng cho mình một nền tảng lập trình tốt hơn. Dẫu sao mình vẫn còn 1 tương lai mà, nhưng sẽ phải chuẩn bị tốt hơn.
Cuối cùng, khép lại 1 giai đoạn đáng nhớ, bắt đầu một giai đoạn mới của mình.
